How long have you been in business?

  • Hope Christian Preschool and Daycare has been open since 1982.

What are your hours of operation?

  • Hope is open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 6 pm.

How many children can be enrolled and how old are they?

  • Hope is licensed for 75 Preschool Students (ages 2-6yrs)  and 14 School Aged After School Program(ages 6-12yrs). 

What are your child to staff ratios and group sizes?

  • The State of California allows us to have 12 students for each teacher in the Preschool/School Program and 14 students for the School Age After School Program.   

What qualifications do your teachers have?

  • All of our teachers are required to have a minimum of 12 child development units. Most of our teachers have either their associate’s degree or their bachelor’s degree. The entire staff at Hope is CPR and First Aid certified.

Are you affiliated with a church?

  • We a ministry of the Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene.  We use the non-denominational curriculum called GROUP which teaches morals, values, and helps to promote love and trust in God, while still respecting the religious values of everyone who attends Hope.   We focus on a different bible story each week and a bible verse and concept each month. Every week we have Chapel were we come together as a school and worship together. 

How do parents participate in your program?

  • We provide many opportunities for our parents to become involved with Hope.   We encourage parents and caregivers to volunteer for special activities such as Noah’s Ark Day, Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with Santa, class parties and various fundraisers throughout the year. 


 Do you have a playground?

  • Yes. Hope has a wonderful playground. We use our playground for outdoor P.E. and free play. We have a large play structure, push cars and tricycles with a bike path, a sand box, shaded tables for rest and outside manipulative play, 2 climbing dinosaurs and a music area.  Hope also has a gym located on the North side of the playground, the gym offers basketball hoops, games and various athletic equipment available for play during the week and also provides safe play area for the children to play when the weather outside is bad.  The Hope playground is hidden from the street providing security and privacy from the general public. 

Do the children ever go on field trips?

  • Yes, we plan field trips based on the maturity level of the children.  Kern County Fair Trips, Greg and Steve Concerts and Meadows Field Airport are examples of some field trips we look forward to taking yearly.  For the younger children we bring things on campus,  for example the Fire Department and the Tooth Fairy come and talk about their very important jobs.

  • We welcome in any family who wishes to come in for a tour of our preschool. You can call (661)832-2267 or schedule an appointment online.

Where are you located?

  • We are located at 2801 Hughes Lane, Bakersfield Ca 93304, one block from the Valley Plaza Mall.

What is your policy on sick children?

  • We follow the state guidelines for illnesses. Any child who may be contagious or is not well enough to participate will be sent home for the well being of themselves and the other students.

What meals do you provide?

  • Our school provides daily nutritious breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.   These meals are included in the price of the tuition.  Parents are welcome to send food or snacks with their children if they feel it’s necessary.  We are, however, a peanut free school so we ask that parents exclude those items for the safety of our children. 

How do you enroll new children?

  • We take applications throughout the year. The application/registration fee is $50. We enroll on a first come first serve basis. If there is an opening at the time the registration packet is returned we will enroll immediately. If there is a waiting list we will place the student on the list and notify parents as soon as there is an opening. 


Does my child need to be potty trained to attend Hope?

  • Your child does not need to be potty trained to attend Hope.  There is an extra $1.00 a day potty training fee charged on your tuition statement.  Our teachers will work hard to help potty train your child as much as possible when your child is physically and emotionally ready.
